Star Butterfly
Star Butterfly is the titular protagonist of the Disney Channel and Disney XD series Star vs. the Forces of Evil (2015-2019). She is a teenage princess of an alternate dimension known as Mewni who was sent to Earth by her parents so that she learns how to use her magic wand properly. On Earth, Star lives in with the Diaz family and befriends Marco Diaz, who later becomes her main love interest.
Tournament History
The eponymous magical girl has appeared consistently in the early Ms. /co/ competitions, with her best result being a fourth round appearance in the 2018 contest, where she was eliminated by Kim Possible. This fairly successful Top 16 run was aided by the hype of Star VS nearing its finale, in a time when Star VS had an active fanbase on /co/ and received frequent threads and discussion.
Unfortunately, the events of the show's final season turned her into a force of evil in the eyes of many fans; because of this, Star's performance in subsequent contests saw a pronounced decline. She was eliminated by Shego in round 2 of the 2019 edition, and by Coraline in the first round of the 2020 tournament. Star survived the 3-character limit in 2021 as she entered the bracket as the series' lowest seed, and she went out again in the first round after being mogged by newcomer ENA. This would be her last tournament appearance to date, as she failed to qualify for 2022, 2023, 2024, and 2025.
Star's declining tournament performance can be seen as an example of a contestant who heavily relies on the reception of his/her series; being the face of the series, Star fell out of favor among many when the show itself fell out of favor, as opposed to the other Star VS waifu Hekapoo who had retained most of her usual following for longer due to being less tied to the series at large.
