Amelia Bedelia
Amelia Bedelia is the main character of the children's picture book series of the same name. She is a maid who takes all of her instructions literally, with comical results as she interprets idioms and figures of speech exactly as they are described. Though her employers (usually the wealthy Mr. and Mrs. Rogers) become frustrated with and must work around her literal tendencies, they're always satisfied in the end by Amelia's delicious cooking.
On /co/, Amelia Bedelia related threads are often very active (hitting the bump limit on numerous occasions) and spawn many pieces of OC[1], with Amelia being seen as a waifu by many due to her cute appearance, innocent nature, and position as a maid. The OC and greentexts in the threads typically show Anon making a romantic or lewd suggestion, to which Amelia responds in her usual literal and clueless manner.
Tournament History
[edit | edit source]Amelia Bedelia first appeared in Ms. /co/ 2018 where she was eliminated in round 1 by Peanuts girl Peppermint Patty. She wasn't nominated for 2019, and later failed to qualify for the 2020 bracket where she placed 167th. Amelia returned in Ms. /co/ 2021 with a seed of 77 and entered the first round with a decently sized following. She went up against popular Disney princess Rapunzel in round 1 and was defeated by a 190 vote difference. Despite her early loss, Amelia still had a few pieces of OC created for her even in later rounds.
Though Amelia narrowly failed to qualify for both the 2022 or 2023 editions of Ms. /co/ she has been noted for her fanbase's campaign efforts in the qualifiers themselves, such as one supporter who commissioned tourney campaign fanart for her, in one of the only recorded instances of an anon commissioning tournament fanart rather than drawing it himself.
