Slappy Squirrel
Slappy Squirrel is a character from the Animaniacs franchise. A tribute to the classic slapstick era of cartoons, she is characterized as a bitter, cranky, grouchy old woman and with a thick New York accent who solves her problems with exaggerated cartoony violence. Slappy lives in a hollow tree with her nephew Skippy, her polar opposite in terms of personality. Slappy's shorts are regarded by many as the best part of the original Animaniacs series, to the point dissenters who would otherwise just feel distate for the franchise admit to liking the character.
Unlike the majority of Ms. /co/'s roster, Slappy stands out not for her sex appeal or cuteness, but because of her nature as a comedic character, making her a popular topic of discussion during the tournament threads. However, this is also a double-edged sword, as she doesn't quite fit the criteria most voters expect to find in a championship contender for Ms. /co/, making her an early casualty of the tournaments.
Tournament History[edit]
After missing the main bracket by a single vote in 2020, Slappy made her first appearance in Ms. /co/ 2021, promptly as a result of being excluded from the 2020 Animaniacs reboot. She landed in the qualifiers with a #99 seed and immediatly lost to Betty Boop, who would go on to become champion of that year.
Onwards to Ms. /co/ 2022, Slappy managed to make the bracket as the 109th seed, along with several other Animaniacs characters such as Dot and Hello Nurse. Despite losing in the very first round once again, Slappy had what many described as one of the strongest and most remarkable campaigns in the entire tournament. Highlights of this include how a certain poster (dubbed as "Skippy Anon") made tons of strange and crude MS Paint style doodles featuring Slappy violently gorging her opponent, Jucika; several humorous greentexts in similar style and content where Slappy used Jucika as a toilet and made the entire thread watch in horror, as well as a vocaroo (presumably also the work of Skippy Anon) of the tree squirrel going all out on her opponent to prevent her from voting for herself. These pieces - which are yet to be uploaded to the tournament booru - mostly died down after Slappy's loss during the first round, but will most likely guarantee her a much better placement in future tournaments.
Slappy's notoriety and campaign in Ms. /co/ 2023 was enough to get her said better placement, with a slightly improved seed and finally making it past the first round, defeating fellow hag Cruella de Vil by a fair margin. She was then eliminated by Wonder Woman in the second round.
