Betty Boop
Betty Boop is a character created by Max Fleischer of Fleischer Studios who made her debut in the 1930 short Dizzy Dishes. Her character is that of a peppy Jazz Age flapper given to singing and dancing. She is considered to be one of the most iconic characters in cartoon history. Many anon's have called her the "original waifu" and noted her as having paved the way for lewdness in the 2D world.
Tournament History[edit]
Betty has made several appearances in Ms. /co/, debuting in 2019 at 65th seed with 90 votes. After a loss to Tinker Bell in the first round, she returned in 2020 at 43rd seed and 104 votes. Although she would defeat Sandy Cheeks in the first round, she lost to Marceline in the second one.
Betty's year to shine came in Ms. /co/ 2021 , where she earned her highest seeding at 30 with 109 votes. She then went on to experience a string of victories taking her all the way to the finals against Johanna, where she won the title of Ms. /co/ 2021 with 335 votes to Johanna's 325. In the process Betty received a good deal of OC and humorous Jazz Age era-oriented support. Her performance may be attributable to the oddness of the tournament's voting, having been a year rife with spite and mind-games. Nonetheless many anon's found Betty a fitting winner in consideration of her legacy, though she met with some detractors as well who believed her a safe option in a generally uninspiring final line-up. Regardless, Betty goes down in /co/ history and broke a few milestones for the tournaments. With her victory she took the place of oldest character in either the male or female tournaments to win, and Ms. /co/'s first vintage winner. Her victory also remains the closest of any final match-ups in Ms. or Mr. /co/.
As winner of Ms. /co/ 2021, Betty is ineligible from competing again.
