Nani Pelekai

Nani Pelekai is a character from the 2002 Disney animated film Lilo & Stitch. She acts as the legal guardian of her sister Lilo after the loss of their parents, and throughout the film must juggle mending her rocky relationship with her sister, her relationship with her boyfriend David, having her role as a guardian put to the test by the social services worker Cobra Bubbles, and getting roped into the alien chase involving Stitch.

Tournament History

Nani first appeared in a Ms. /co/ tournament in 2019, seeded at 114th, but quickly dropped out after a round 1 defeat to Jessica Rabbit.

Her 2020 appearance was slightly more successful, making it to the second round after defeating fellow Disney girl Elsa, and suffering a defeat to Kim Pine.

After sitting out 2021 due to narrowly missing qualifying by one vote with a 133rd seed, Nani returned in 2022. A waifufag cult following within the threads helped her win a grudge match against Kim Pine in the first round, after which she'd win the next few matches, defeating EVE by a close margin to make it to the Elite Eight, where she then lost to Shirley the Medium. She then landed 7th place in the consolation vote.

After taking 2023 off, Nani returned in Ms. /co/ 2024. Like in 2022 she was a very vocally supported character if not one especially backed by drawfags, however as her performance has shown OC isn't needed to make a difference in a girl's run as just cheering for your girl in the threads and thanking anons for voting for her can help push her over the edge. This has shown in her close victories against Peni Parker and Sam in the second and third rounds. Along the way she also became an ally of Chel due to both being curvy brown girls who were part of 2022's Elite Eight. Keeping in line with her close margins throughout the tournament she would narrowly be defeated by the dark horse newcomer Blackfire by 8 votes; due to having the closest defeat of the fourth round, she earned the nickname "Ninth Place Nani".
