Dick Dastardly
Dick Dastardly is a major character in Hanna-Barbera's Wacky Races. He is a stereotypical villain who is frequently accompanied by his dog sidekick Muttley. Despite his talent as a race car driver and possessing a high-speed vehicle known as the "Mean Machine", he has a strict obligation to win races through methods of cheating, which more often than not backfire on him resulting in Dick getting last place or outright disqualified in the race. Dick would later star in his own spin-off titled Dastardly & Muttley in Their Flying Machines where he and Muttley become flying aces as part of the "Vulture Squadron" whose mission is to stop a carrier pigeon from delivering top-secret messages to an opposing force, to no avail.
In contrast to his notoriously horrible luck in his source material, Dick would find a semblance of success in the tournaments, culminating in his first victory in /cov/ with fellow purple-clad mustachioed villain Waluigi.
Tournament History
Mr. /co/lympus
Dick's first Mr. /co/lympus appearance occurred in 2021 where he qualified as the 47th seed. He made quick work of Carl Fredrickson from Up in round 1 before being foiled by Looney Tunes star Bugs Bunny in round 2.
Dick has not qualified for the next three years, often finishing in the 200s for polling. He received 96 of 111 required votes (241st) to qualify in 2022, 28/36 required votes (226th) in 2023, and 60/79 required votes (278th) in 2024.
After this prolonged break, he was able to qualify for Mr. /co/lympus 2025, but ended up once again losing in the second round, this time to Samurai Jack, by a very similiar margin to his loss from 4 years prior.
/cov/
Dick's true potential instead lied within the /cov/ team tournament where he is teamed up with Waluigi as the "Dastardly Duo". Their pre-tournament hype resulted in them being the top seed and they proceeded to blaze through all of their opponents all the way to the finals. Their opponents in the final round were The Mutineers, consisting of John Silver and Erika Furudo, with the Dastardly Duo winning by 66.3% of the vote, cementing them as the inaugural winners of the tournament. Dick's victory makes him the third character from Hanna-Barbera to win a tournament following Johnny Bravo and Zorak, and the first one to win a side tournament.
Ironically, the Dastardly Duo have previously qualified for the now-disregarded /co/-/v/ Power Hour that happened in 2022, where they got 8th place in the Elite Eight in contrast to their proper victory in 2024.
