Superman
Superman, also known as Clark Kent and Kal-El is a superhero featured in DC Comics. A Kryptonian sent to Earth, he uses his super strength, flight, general invincibility, and other superpowers to protect the world and save the day. He has been featured in countless comics and animated media over the course of almost a century and is arguably the most famous comic character ever.
Tournament History
Superman appeared as the first seed in the first ever Mr. /co/lympus tournament, Mr. /co/lympus 2018. He would have a successful run, using his status as a /co/ icon to stomp matches all the way until the Quarterfinals, where he would lose a DC vs Marvel match against J. Jonah Jameson and land 6th place in the consolation match.
However his return year of 2020 would prove to be his kryptonite as he shockingly didn't even qualify, obtaining only 54/70 of the needed votes to make it into the 128. Future showings would see Supes faring no better; he jobbed round 1 to Danny Fenton in 2021, jobbing round 1 yet again to Dan in 2022, and then in 2023 he would receive the bare minimum amount of votes required to qualify before losing to Jack Skellington. This has caused him to be seen as a jobber, especially by Goku posters who claim his string of round 1 losses as another victory in the eternal rivalry between Superman and Goku. In the eyes of many, Superman recovering his full strength in the tournaments seemed more and more unlikely.
In 2024 Superman notably scored his first round one victory since 2018 in a year marked by unusually impressive performances for comic characters, to the welcome surprise of fans despite the ensuing defeat to Mojo Jojo.
Following the 2024 victory of Spider-Man, comic characters in general made a big resurgence back into the Mr. /co/lympus scene in 2025, with Superman being no exception. Coupled with the release of the largely successful Superman movie earlier that year which helped to fuel his run, Supes started off the year with a top 10 seed and a massive victory against Max, followed by another overwhelming victory against the Scotsman. With momentum back in his favor, he defeated Master Shake in the third round and narrowly got past Donald Duck to finally make his way back into the Elite Eight. Having recovered his full tournament strength after years of jobbing, Superman went even further beyond his 2018 run as he scored another incredibly narrow victory against SpongeBob SquarePants, landing him into the semi-finals where he defeated Hank Hill, whose run was largely defined by the release of the King of the Hill revival earlier that year. In a battle between golden age comics and golden age cartoons, Superman faced off against Daffy Duck for the chance to claim his spot atop Mount /co/lympus, with this matchup having been pushed as part of the "#SuperDaffy" alliance formed in the round prior. Though Superman conceded to his fellow Warner Bros icon, this runner-up position has been noted as a massive reversal of fortunes for the superhero, ending the first season of Mr. /co/lympus as strongly as he had started it.
