Courage is the titular character and the main protagonist of the Cartoon Network TV series Courage the Cowardly Dog, created by John R. Dilworth. A small pink dog of undetermined breed, Courage was abandoned as a puppy after his parents were sent into outer space, but was adopted by Muriel Bagge. Ironically, given his name, Courage can be a genuine coward and he often expresses his distress with over-the-top, piercing shrieks. Regardless, he still goes to great lengths to protect his loved ones, outsmarting the villains most of the time.

Tournament History

Courage has traditionally been considered an excellent performer in Mr. /co/lympus, both in part due to his status as a classic Cartoon Network character and for his flawed yet compassionate, friendly and honorable personality.

As a 75th seed in his first appearance during the Mr. /co/lympus 2018 tournament, Courage managed to reach the Round 4 stage without much trouble save for a close encounter with another future elite contestant Skeletor. Unfortunately, he wouldn't make it to quarter-finals due to the intrusion of Captain America, barely missing by a single vote difference.

In 2019, Courage achieved a third place finish after defeating Professor Utonium, Bugs Bunny and finally Hank Hill in the post-semifinals consolation round. Despite making a new record high seed (#2) in his return during the 2021 contest, Courage was eliminated just right before he could make the Top 8 once again, defeated by the comic book representative J. Jonah Jameson.

Courage returned in Mr. /co/lympus 2022 and ended up earning the top seed of the entire selection of candidates, in spite (or perhaps because) of the year's Ms. /co/ controversy surrounding Shirley the Medium. He did not face seed #128, Dr. Livesey, due to the implementation of a randomized bracket in the first round. That said, he ended up taking every match easily all the way until the Elite Eight. It became a running joke that he had made it so far without any campaigning, although Courage did get several pieces of OC and his supporters had a decent presence in the threads. He ended up narrowly taking down Squidward in the quarter-finals, but was finally defeated by Carl Brutananadilewski in the semi-finals. A number of anons had expected a Courage vs. Daffy finale since the tournament began and were shocked by the actual results going into the finals. Courage would place 3rd in the post-semifinals consolation round just like he did in 2019.

The cowardly dog will able to compete again in Mr. /co/lympus 2024.
