J. Jonah Jameson
J. Jonah Jameson (also known by the initials JJJ) is a character from the comic books published by American company Marvel Comics, commonly appearing in association with the superhero Spider-Man. Jameson is typically depicted as the publisher or editor-in-chief of the Daily Bugle, a fictional newspaper. Recognizable by his toothbrush moustache, flattop haircut, and ever-present cigar, he carries out a smear campaign against Spider-Man, frequently referring to him as a "menace" and a criminal for varying reasons, but occasionally and reluctantly allying with him.
Jameson is easily the most successful comic book character in the entire competition's history after having qualified for a majority of the Mr. /co/lympics he has been eligible for and making it to the Elite Eight on two different ocassions after beating other several Elite Eight candidates. He is known for his boisterous attitude, always getting the dirty details on his opponents before facing them.
Tournament history[edit]
Jameson has competed in three Mr. /co/lympics total. During the 2018 tourney, he was known as a major dark horse, beating out numerous popular characters by close margins until his defeat to Johnny Bravo, the eventual winner. Narrowly beating huge contenders would continue to be his forte in following years.
After sitting out for a whole year due to his 4th place finish, in 2020 Jameson notably won a close match with Spear - another expected favorite - before his loss to Shaggy, the only other Elite Eight from 2018 still in the tournament.
Jameson would be seen making another deep run into the Top 8 in the 2021 tourney, after having once again defeated Bugs Bunny in a very close rematch, and then beating the powerhouse Courage in the Sweet 16 round. Jameson would eventually bow out during quarter-finals to the shapeshifting master of darkness Aku, placing 7th among the rest of the Elite 8 that year.
In perhaps the biggest shock out of the entirely of qualifiers, Jameson would fail to qualify upon his next shot to return in Mr. /co/lympus 2023. Many anons were taken aback and disappointed by this outcome. The qualifier results for this year had bizarrely low numbers and one host even implied something happened behind the scenes, which does add to the confusion about JJJ's absence. Regardless, he would have to sit this tournament out and wait until Mr. /co/lympus 2024.
