"Um... I-I don't even know where to start with you. I mean, do you even know who you're talkin' to?"
"D-Do you have any idea, any idea who I am?"
"Basically - kind of a big deal!"
"Ya' listenin'? OK. Grass grows, birds fly, sun shines, and brotha'- I hurt people."
"If you were from where I was from, you'd be f**kin' dead!"
"WOOO!" - From Meet the Scout.
The Scout is one of the player characters in Team Fortress 2.
A snarky mercenary from Boston, he uses his speed to get up close to his enemies and take them out with a couple well-placed shots of his scattergun and pistol, or rapid hits of his baseball bat. The most arrogant and foul-mouthed out of all of the TF2 mercs, the Scout loves to taunt and mock his enemies. In spite of his arrogant and often annoying behavior, he is strongly sympathetic and supportive towards his teammates.
A frequent member of the Elite Eight in King of /v/, Scout is quite notorious for his continous campaign efforts through the years, being particularly notable as a fan-favorite for his role-playing posts and even having played a central role across several storylines.
Tournament History
Scout's debut was in 2019, alongside fellow TF2 mercenary the Heavy, and both were doing fairly well, however Scout ended up losing in round 4 to Duke Nukem while Heavy made it to Elite Eight.
Scout wouldn't let this get him down however, as he came back in 2020 with a high seed and a great campaign, managing to narrowly beat out dark horse "Fuhrer" and Regigigas, earning him a spot in the Elite Eight. In the quarter-finals, Scout was eliminated by eventual champion Dante, and later placed 8th in the 5th-8th consolation match.
2022 seemed to be Scout's year, as he quickly became a fan-favorite due to his campaign, consisting of him teaming up with other Scouts (except BLU Scout), an AMV set to a Getter Robo OP, and even a full blown RPGMaker game [1]. Unfortunately for Scout, his run would be cut short, as he was silently snuck up upon and eliminated by the much more quiet Solid Snake in a very controversial round 3.
In 2023 Scout would notoriously become a much darker figure; starting by beating the shit out of Reimu after she and Dante plotted to rig the polls, the mercenary would become increasingly mentally disturbed throughout the threads, largely driven by his obsession over Marisa who he would fight to take from John Ward. With each round he would go on psychopathic episodes in which he would stalk and murder his opponents, as well as many other candidates whose disappearances were linked to Scout, all the while going on a series of schizophrenic rants.
Because of his descent into madness during the tournament, he was admitted into Team Schizo, which would result in him becoming one of Grimm's allies after his defeat to the Black Souls protagonist. Scout would then go on to claim 5th place in the consolation match due to the infamy of his schizo arc.
Either way, Scout won't be eligible for another King of /v/ tournament again until his appointed release from the mental ward in 2025. Maybe he will reunite with Marisa one of these days.
2025 was the year of the Scout, as the stars aligned and the proper effort was put forth. Scout finally gained the crown as winner of King /v/ 2025, taking the crown as the 7th champion, and the first returning Elite Eight (King and Queen of /v/) winner for King. Scout's campaign this year took a much more positive note after his extended trip to the mental hospital. Scout no longer obsessed himself with knocking the teeth out of shrine maidens, but instead played to his many strengths provided by his game.

One notable aspect of the Scout run where things really took a turn for the better was the creation of "Samus Milk" OC. This began with the creation of a "Fetish chart", where an anon asked the mains of voters, and their fetishes. Humorously, despite the popularity of Scout, the only Scout main to reply simply stated "Huge tits" [2], which led to a funny contrast against the universal depravity of every other elite 8 member. The further coincidence that Scout was noted for officially being able to use milk-themed items [3], along with the prevalence for Transformation-themed fetishes, led to a humorous twist where Scout doused Recette Lemongrass with special milk, [4] dubbed by many anons "The Samus Milk". This led to a flurry of OC by many horny anons of various tournament relevant females (and males) being bimbofied by Scout's TF milk into busty transformations of Samus Aran , which further boosted Scout's momentum.
Scout ended his battle by defeating fellow finalist Wario in an OC-fueled battle, with a lot of "shonen kino" from both participants, with Scout handily winning with 54.2% of the vote.
This makes Scout the 7th King of /v/ winner, as well as the first winner from a game developed by Valve, the first FPS winner, and the first winner from a video game developed by an American studio.Scout's debut was in 2019, alongside fellow TF2 mercenary the Heavy, and both were doing fairly well, however Scout ended up losing in round 4 to Duke Nukem while Heavy made it to Elite Eight.

From there he would sit out 2021, slowly building up his campaign and hype over the time. Even showing up during the off-season threads as well. The merc would also eventually start to fall for a certain blonde witch from Gensokyo (of which didn’t even know about him.) He would keep running on and on, head first into being nominated in the very first thread next year.
2022 seemed to be Scout's year, as he quickly became a fan-favorite due to his campaign, consisting of him teaming up with other Scouts (except BLU Scout) Which is made up of scout themed characters such as a Scout Marine from Dawn of War, Scout from Age of Empires and for some reason Matt from Epic Battle Fantasy and Eorlund Gray-Mane from Skyrim. He would proceed to take N's hat and hair after beating him in round 1, made an AMV set to a Getter Robo OP, and even a full blown RPGMaker game [5]. He would also proceed to beat Sam (not the Brazilian one.) in the next round, after threatening to cut up his partner for his severed head as a hat. Unfortunately for Scout, his run would be cut short, as he was silently snuck up upon and eliminated by the much more quiet Solid Snake in a very controversial round 3. An event that would contribute to his downward spiral in the following years.
During the off-season tournament after suffering such an unexpected defeat. The Bostonian would be tricked into going inside corruption shed by a certain golden witch. Leading him down the path of mental degradation and corrupting his mind. This would lead to a numerous chain of events which involves John Ward playing UNO with Marisa during the tournament. Inevitably, John Ward would take his love away from him. Causing the Scout to be mindbroken after having found out about all of this. His mental state would continue to get worse and it would be shown all in the next year where all this seemingly tiny impact would seep into the main tournament.

In the first round, he went up against another fellow jokester fighter Johnny Cage. In any other circumstance this would’ve been a friendly and joyous match. However with his mental state being in complete shambles he instead opted to try to kill and eat him instead. Unfortunately for Cage, Scout would’ve been successful. And although he tried to sacrifice Johnny's soul with his 5 GET, it was ultimately countered by Cage’s GET from the underworld (the loser bracket.) Around this time Scout would also exacted retribution on Battler by abducting and raping his cousin Jessica. After the red haired Ushiromiya introduced her to him due to her similarity to Marisa whom she even cosplayed as before in the VN. Postal Dude also showed up briefly around this time and tried to get him to sign the petition of which the Scout of course refused.

In the second round he would go up against an equally mentally disturbed James Sunderland. Scout would fit in with all the horrors in Silent Hill as he stalked the survival horror protagonist during the round. James would eventually confront him with all the Vocaroo as well as trying to bribe Scout by putting Maria into Marisa's cosplay. But it did nothing but only fueled his madness. James would also proceed to kill Scout’s mother by snuffing her out with a pillow. Causing his mental stability to take another hit. Alas this all would not do much as the insane mercenary proceeds to kill him and advances to the next round. Alucard would also be next, and although the son of Dracula put up a good fight. In the midst of the night, the Scout came up victorious. With all the Scout’s insane rampage going on, Raiden sees all of this and wants to get root to the madness. The cyborg ninja wanted to find out the entity responsible for all of this and brought them to justice. He began an investigation of his own which takes place throughout the entire tournament till to the very end. Questioning all sorts of characters like Roland and Chris Redfield.

Scout’s descent into insanity wouldn’t end, and as his murderous spree continued. Someone from Gensokyo would notice his activity and track him down. It was none other than Marisa’s mentor and mother figure, Mima who showed up to taunt him. Gloating at his face and saying that she had hidden Marisa away in safety. This of course pissed off Scout who demanded to know where Marisa is. He would proceed to beat and rape her over and over again. Mima, being a ghost and all, wasn't affected much by this and continued to haunt him for the rest of the tournament. Her and Jessica weren’t the only survivors of Scout’s rampage. As anyone who managed to piss him off would also have suffered the same or similar fate. Either getting beaten, kill and raped or all of that in order. One such example was Junko Enoshima. She only appeared briefly to try and spread her despair with GETposting. And just as brief as it is, that was enough to paint her a target. Needless to say, he gave her the much wanted despair. The appearance of Mima also had prompted Raiden to make a journey to Gensokyo to find more answers.
Finally in 4th round, he would face off against the agent Leon Kennedy. He would proceed to also stalk him in the forest not unlike where the event of Resident Evil 4 had taken place in. The federal agent would be vigilant, continuing to be on the look out until he was eventually ambushed by Scout with a chainsaw, getting beheaded afterwards. In the quarterfinals he would be face up against a knight who was even more broken than him. Finally culminating in an epic and climatic showdown as Grimm and Scout clashed against each other. Sword and bat clanking as the mindbroken Scout was finally defeated. In the end, his tulpa which resembled Marisa appeared up to congratulate him, putting his schizophrenia into dormant and to finally rest.
Because of his descent into madness during the tournament, he was admitted into Team Schizo, which would result in him becoming one of Grimm's allies after his defeat to the Black Souls protagonist. Scout would then go on to claim 5th place in the consolation match due to the infamy of his schizo arc.

In the end, Raiden found out what he was looking for. From his testament it seems that Scout was a victim of circumstances, being taken advantage of by numerous forces and people such as Gary’s cult, The Order of the Second Death. For having defeated Nyarlathotep back in 2020. Then get possessed by him after surviving a snowy winter of 2022 before uniting with Keiichi Maebara to double the crime rates. Said crimes are then covered up by Minato Kageaki, but not before Keiichi was dispatched by Lorde. Maybe all of this is true, or maybe not and Raiden was actually just going through Umineko Magic Ending. In the end, truth can be decided by the majority.
Either way, Scout won't be eligible for another King of /v/ tournament again until his appointed release from the mental ward in 2025. Maybe he will reunite with Marisa one of these days. During the off-season he would eventually be nursed back to health by Malon (who he got paired up with in that year.) in the hospital. Meanwhile the Team Fortress 2 comic would release around this time which happened to coincide with the recovery arc. Scout would enter again next year, now being the mercenary he is once again and having gotten over his trauma.
Scout no longer obsessed himself with knocking the teeth out of shrine maidens or raping and eating people, but instead played to his many strengths provided by his game. Such as cracking jokes, beating people up with a bat and dressing up as other characters which admittedly isn't that much different but at least his mental state is well again.
In the first round he would rematch up against Nyarlathotep, who back then was known as Fuhrer. He easily knocked him away, beating him up in a 0-2 score. In the second round he would go up against the Postal Dude who he had run into in the previous years before. However this time he decided to be a good sport and signed his petition after having a good brawl with him. They also decided to discuss some Nitro+ visual novels later on. In the third round he would go against a Nintendo King who had appeared in a new game recently. King K. Rool would threaten to destroy Boston of which Scout wasn’t having any of that and decided to face off with the monkey hater. He dressed up as a monkey, called him a King K Drool and eventually Scout would come up on top, having toppled a giant once more. In the next match, he would be on a gauntlet against Nintendo characters. As he faced off against the pink goofball Kirby. Scout raced against him and battled him like a ball, winning him the match. However in the next round he would be faced off against the pink’s friend and nemesis instead.
The next match would be against none other than King Dedede. The match took off in a high-octane enthusiasm, where two highly vocal campaigns went at it against each other in good sport and lots of energy. In one particular instance a Scout's OC made a misspelling of the word "clobber." into cobbler which caused them to accidentally go on into a shoe cobbling competition instead, taking a break from clobbering and battling against each other. Another batch of OCs have Scout be possessed by Dark Matter, another antagonist from the Kirby series. The match would end in Scout's victory, being the closest out of any opponents as the Dream Land monarch put up a good fight (48.2% against Scout's 51.8%)

Around this time, anons would begin to notice something strange about Recette. For whatever reason she began to obsess over Scout and his campaigning, perhaps she had invested in him for whatever reason? Either way it was getting quite worrying and so HUNK was sent in by an unknown sponsor (some speculated that it was Marisa, or even Scout’s tulpa.) Mr. Grim Reaper would begin to kill the little merchant over and over again. It was to no avail because she kept resurrecting from death from having been immortalized in the /v/ahalla. HUNK realized this and kept on a game of cat and mouse ala Tom and Jerry throughout the entire tournament. Holding her off from reaching the Boston mercenary. This wasn’t entirely penniless however, as HUNK would be paid handsomely at the end for his job with a bunch of refined metals by none other than the Scout himself.
In the next round he went up against the lawyer Phoenix Wright who tried to assemble a team of people who were hurt by the Scout in previous years. However Scout was no slouch either, annoying the attorney with his endless rambling. Even dressing up as Godot at one point and causing headache to no end. At some point Soldier even showed up along with God himself. The merc would eventually go on to defeat the lawyer in a blowout of 61.6% against 38.4% despite the evidence of animal abuse as he had just forced transformation on a certain canine goddess earlier in the round.

One notable aspect of the Scout run where things really took a turn for the better was the creation of "Samus Milk" OC. This began with the creation of a "Fetish chart", where an anon asked the mains of voters, and their fetishes. Humorously, despite the popularity of Scout, the only Scout main to reply simply stated "Huge tits" [6], which led to a funny contrast against the universal depravity of every other elite 8 member. The further coincidence that Scout was noted for officially being able to use milk-themed items [7], along with the prevalence for Transformation-themed fetishes, led to a humorous twist where Scout doused Recette Lemongrass with special milk, [8] dubbed by many anons "The Samus Milk". This led to a flurry of OC by many horny anons of various tournament relevant females (and males) being bimbofied by Scout's TF milk into busty transformations of Samus Aran , which further boosted Scout's momentum. At one point even Raven Beak showed up to give his support, opposed by Sylux who wanted to stop him from making more Samus Aran.
Scout ended his battle by defeating fellow finalist Wario in an OC-fueled battle, with a lot of "shonen kino" from both participants, with Scout handily winning with 54.2% of the vote. Some anons were lambasting about the lack of hype and shounen earlier of which this match decided to prove them wrong in a good way. Scout, now teaming up with his fellow mercenaries and other supporters from the collage. Even Matt who had returned from 2022 to give his support. Put an end to his own saga by finally retiring in /v/ahalla.
This makes Scout the 7th King of /v/ winner, as well as the first winner from a game developed by Valve, the first FPS winner, and the first winner from a video game developed by an American studio. Results

Many other factors resulted in Scout's victory, including the long-awaited conclusion to the official Team Fortress 2 comic, [9] a highly active campaign throughout the tournament, good comradery and fun fights with his opponents, positive past history in tournaments, and a general love of the game. The afterparty was highly positive towards Scout. The repeat high performance of TF2 mercs in King of /v/ has many anons antsy towards the prospect of a merc finally winning. Scout was considered by many anons to be the best representative of the game.

The mood also stayed high, with good sports and mutual respect shown from both the winning party and finalists, with an earlier pessimistic outlook toward that year's king shifting to be nearly universally joyous. He is also, weirdly enough, a second baseball themed winner as pointed out by some anons. Which has an ironic parallel to 2021 as Wario was a greedy fat character with a mustache not unlike Eggman. Because of the Champion rule, Scout is permanently retired from all future King /v/ tournaments. Many anons wonder if a fellow merc, such as the Heavy, will be the first character to break the "same series curse".
