Gordon Freeman

Gordon Freeman is the protagonist of the Half-Life series.

He is a silent, PhD-holding theoretical physicist from MIT who becomes the player-controlled protagonist of the Half‑Life series, surviving a catastrophic experiment at Black Mesa and emerging as a key figure in humanity’s resistance against otherworldly threats.

Tournament History

Being THE silent protagonist, it should be no doubt that Gordon has qualified for every King of /v/ tournament to date. His performance could be classified as one of a typical midcarder, usually reaching Round 3 or 4, with the exception of a minor slip-up in 2021.

There was a lot of buzz surrounding Gordon in 2025 due to rumours of an extremely highly-anticipated new installment in the Half-Life franchise supposedly being announced at that year's The Game Awards event, which was happening during the contest. However, in a rather ironic twist, Gordon ended up losing in round THREE against Demi-fiend by exactly THREE votes.
To add insult to injury, Demi lost his next match by THREE votes as well, while the afromentioned TGA rumours soon turned out to be a disappointing nothingburger.

Perhaps it's his trademark silence that's holding him back from reaching Elite status...
