Maya Fey

Maya Fey (known as Mayoi Ayasato in Japan) is a character from Capcom's Ace Attorney adventure game series. Introduced in the very first game, Maya is a spirit medium-in-training of the Fey clan, whose female members have the ability to communicate with spirits and allow them to temporarily return to the real world by possessing their physical bodies. She is the younger sister of recently murdered defense attorney Mia Fey. Maya is accused of murdering her sister, but Mia's protege Phoenix Wright successfully defends her innocence. Maya then becomes Phoenix's primary companion for most of the Ace Attorney original trilogy.

Tournament History

In Queen of /v/ tournaments, Maya has proven to be a strong competitor due to Ace Attorney's popularity in the board, and is well-liked for her cheerful personality and chemistry with Wright. She has reached the Elite Eight two times (2019, 2022) and consistently ranks among the top seeds, although she has been accused of being someone who benefits from the "silent majority".

Maya holds a special distinction for being the very first girl nominated in the inaugural 2019 contest, causing her to occupy the "top seed" spot in the bracket, even though there were no seeding methods implemented at the time. She comfortably reached the Elite Eight stage, then squeaked past Roll by 2 votes in the quarter-finals before going down to Samus Aran in the semis, and then bowing out to Midna to finish at fourth place. Her 2019 performance paved the way for other Ace Attorney main characters to create their own first impressions, with Phoenix matching her fourth-place finish in the 2019 King contest, Mia coming fairly close to making the Elite 8 in Queen 2020, and finally Edgeworth placing seventh in the 2020 King edition.

The spirit medium returned in Queen of /v/ 2021 as the #8 seed in the bracket, but fell victim in the second round against the meme pick Ebony & Ivory - Dante's guns from Devil May Cry.

Maya returned the next year with a slightly higher seed of #4, and had a much better performance by reaching elite 8 again after beating Hex Maniac in the round 4 match. Her journey would stop in the Quarter-Finals after she surprisingly lost to the slick-slithering snake girl Alipheese. Maya would seemingly go on to rank 7th place in the 5th-8th consolation match - while this was reflected in the results screens at the time, it wouldn't be until early 2024 when it was pointed out that this placement was due to a miscount of the votes by the then host NightShiftAnon !!9A2duD1C25+, effectively making Maya's actual ranking 6th place and retroactively pairing her with Phoenix's placement once again.

Maya entered as the top seed in 2024 and was immediately thrust into the spotlight as she was faced against that year's ironic shitpost candidate, the notorious Bazz from Sony's short-lived slop flop Concord. This match contained large amounts of back and forth memes and OC from both sides, most notably a heated rap battle between both characters. After what was generally considered one of the highlights of the first round, Maya prevailed over Bazz and moved on to the second round, where she scored an even larger victory against Gwynevere.

In the third round she entered into a rematch against the Hex Maniac trainer type from Pokemon; this round was similarly eventful for Maya as she was framed as Bazz's murderer and, in true Ace Attorney fashion, stood on trial as the defendant. A jury of anons convened in an objection.lol courtroom to determine Maya's innocence, and ultimately concluded that Bazz had ACKed xerself in a suicide, establishing a Not Guilty verdict for the defendant. Not all was well for Maya however as not only did she have to contend with already existing smear campaign directed at her from certain Bazzfags, she also became the first target of an infamous falseflag campaign launched against each of Hex Maniac's opponents from that point on. Perhaps due to being double teamed by hostile shitposters, Maya lost to Hex in one of the most defining results of the tournament.
