Alice (Black Souls)

Alice is a key character from Black Souls, a series of Dark Souls-inspired Japanese adult role-playing games created by Ini Mini Manimo in RPG Maker. Based on the eponymous protagonist of Lewis Carroll's Alice book series, specifically her depiction in the 1951 Disney movie, Alice first appears upon starting a new game in Black Souls 1, where she guides the player in choosing their name and starting class, as well as the option to enable or disable explicit scenes. After the player finishes, her overworld sprite violently explodes into a bloody corpse.

Alice plays a central role in Black Souls, serving as the primary love interest of the games' player character. In the sequel Black Souls II, the player can choose what form the girl appears in when they start a new game: as his daughter, little sister, or mother.

Alice reappears inside "Alice's Library" in Wonderland, a late-game zone located in the bottom right corner of the overworld. To access the library, the player must talk to the Bandersnatch guarding the door and MUST NOT answer his question.

Upon entering the library, Alice reveals herself to be a robotic clone of the real Alice, who died in the game's intro. She tasks the player to fulfill her dream by filling all bookshelves of famous fables and fairy tales, which means that you must kill the "Four Princesses" (the major bosses of the game) and Cinderella (the final boss), and then search every corner of the overworld for the remaining books - which is no easy task as some books require complicated steps; the most infamous example being the "Tortoise and Hare".

Once the entire library is filled, the door towards the back room will be unlocked, which contains even more bookshelves. But this time, the player must kill all of his heroines (except Leaf who just says no) and the "Alice" in the library. Completing this task will finally reveal a switch; pulling it will lock the player towards Ending C.

Should the player die during the true final boss fight in Ending C, Alice's voice will show up and tell him to keep fighting. The player is then resurrected with Alice's ribbon, an item which grants an extra turn. Alice will also appear in the epilogue of Ending D after the player vanquishes Baphomet.
