Cirno
Cirno is a character from ZUN's shoot-em' up video game series Touhou Project. Introduced as a boss character in the sixth installment Embodiment of Scarlet Devil, the ice fairy has become one of Touhou's most recognizable characters, with her popularity largely coming from memes and fan art.
Cirno made 2 tournament appearances in 4chan's Queen of /v/, an emerging serial video game waifu contest. She made a breakthrough in the 2020 edition thanks to Touhou's long-standing influence in the imageboard's culture, resulting in her first Elite Eight showing alongside eventual champion Reimu. However, she was eliminated in the quarter-finals by dark horse white wolf Amaterasu with a margin of just TWO votes, preventing a dreaded all-Touhou final. Cirno placed 5th overall. Cirno will return in her next eligible edition in 2023.
