Demi-fiend

The Demi-fiend is the main character of Shin Megami Tensei III: Nocturne (featuring Dante from the Devil May Cry series). Originally a high school student, he becomes a demon-human hybrid after surviving an apocalyptic event known as the Conception. From here the Demi-fiend goes on to survive in the post-apocalyptic world while summoning demons and striking down gods, eventually choosing what might become of the world depending on what actions the player chooses.

He also has guest appearances in other SMT games where he typically appears as a superboss. Though most other SMT protagonists' alignments are a blank slate for the player to decide, the Demi-fiend is strongly associated with the Chaos alignment.

Tournament History

Demi-fiend has appeared in every eligible tournament from 2020 onwards, and is typically the only SMT pick to qualify besides Jack Frost due to the popularity of Nocturne. He would first appear as a Round 1 jobber in 2020, however in 2021 he was able to garner more support and OC, making it to round 3 before losing a close match to AM. In 2022 he would summon Pixie as his cheerleader, but ultimately fell short of making it past schizo Isaac Clarke in the first round.

The Demi-fiend's most successful appearance has been in King of /v/ 2023, where Shin Megami Tensei fans would rally behind him to restore honor to the series' name after the controversial Finals run of Jack Frost. Coming off a strong base of support and OC, Demi-fiend would see victories against King Dice, the Queen's canon partner Quote, former Elite Eight Duke Nukem, and Father Garcia in a thematic Demon vs Priest matchup. In the Elite Eight he would defeat fellow dark horse Rayman before falling to the massive campaign of the Eggman Empire. Fittingly enough he fought against John Ward for 3rd place in one last struggle of Chaos against Law, to which John Ward would come out on top having avenged his fellow priest and exorcised the Demi-fiend's demonic nature, returning him to his life as a normal human.
