Maya Fey
Maya Fey (known as Mayoi Ayasato in Japan) is a character from Capcom's video game series of adventure games Ace Attorney. Introduced in the very first game, Maya is the younger sister of Phoenix Wright's recently murdered defense attorney Mia Fey.
As a spirit medium in training, Maya has the ability to communicate with spirits and allow them to temporarily return to the real world by possessing her physical body. Maya becomes Phoenix's partner after Mia's death and quickly turns into one of his closest friends and allies. However, she also has a tendency to get involved in perilous situations in each game's final cases. In later installments, she is mostly absent in the 4th (starring Apollo) and 5th game (starring Athena), before returning as a major character in the 6th game (Spirit of Justice).
Tournament History
In the Queen of /v/ tournaments, Maya holds a special distinction for being the very first girl nominated in the inaugural 2019 contest, causing her to occupy the "top seed" spot in the bracket even though there were no seeding methods implemented at the time. She comfortably reached the Elite Eight stage, where she squeaked past Roll by 2 votes in the quarter-finals before going down to Samus Aran in the semis. She ended up placing fourth overall after losing to Midna. Her 2019 performance paved the way for other Ace Attorney main characters to create their own first impressions as well, with Phoenix matching her fourth-place finish in the 2019 King contest, Mia coming fairly close to making the Elite 8 in Queen 2020, and finally Edgeworth placing seventh in the 2020 King edition.
The spirit medium returned in Queen of /v/ 2021, securing the #8 seed in the bracket. However, she was eliminated early in round 2 after becoming a victim of the much-supported meme pick Ebony & Ivory - Dante's guns from Devil May Cry.
She would return the next year with a slightly higher seed of #4 and a much better performance by reaching elite 8 again after beating out Hex Maniac in the round 4 match. Her journey would stop in the Quarter-Finals as she was defeated by the surprise run of Alipheese, she would then go on to rank 7th place in the 5th-8th consolation match.
Maya will be eligible again in Queen of /v/ 2024.
