Emmy ironically has a controversial history in Ms. /co/. She was a FOTM girl during the 2019 tournament, but her eligibility was questioned by several users because of a relative lack of official Emmy-related material at that time. The contest's OP ultimately decided to allow her in, using "Dominic Cellini art" as the source name because her series didn't have an official title yet. Emmy managed to amass 50 votes in the qualifiers, but it wasn't enough for her to advance to the main bracket.

The nandroid's first real bracket appearance happened in Ms. /co/ 2020, securing an impressive 5th seed. During the first round however, she became the centerpiece of yet another controversy: an anonymous user known as "Basilanon" -- named for their use of a Detective Basil picture -- discovered that Random Cartoon, a Peruvian Facebook page known for stealing art, had posted links to the Ms. /co/ threads calling to vote for Emmy (and to a lesser extent Miko). Emmy became embroiled in yet another controversy later in the first round: an anonymous user known as "Basilanon" -- named for their use of a Detective Basil picture -- discovered that Random Cartoon, a Peruvian Facebook page known for stealing art, had posted links to the Ms. /co/ threads calling to vote for her (and to a lesser extent Miko). Tournament history

Emmy's history in the Ms. /co/ tournaments began as a FOTM girl during the 2019 edition, where her eligibility was questioned by several users because of a relative lack of official Emmy-related material at that time. The contest's OP ultimately decided to allow her in, using "Dominic Cellini art" as the source name because her series didn't have an official title yet. Emmy managed to amass 50 votes in the qualifiers but it wasn't enough for her to advance to the main bracket.

Now with a proper serialized webcomic at her side, Emmy returned in the 2020 contest with high hopes of qualifying. However, the nandroid was mainly targeted alongside Skyla by a troll named "REMOVE /POL/ PROPAGANDA CHARACTERS" (alleged to be that massive faggot). Starting from the nomination phase, the troll(s) posted many inflammatory comments intended to bait replies, and attempted to damage the robot's reputation by associating her with "Nazis", "incels", and "brigades from /pol/". Nevertheless, Emmy successfully qualified for the main bracket, securing an unexpectedly high 5th seed. Since some fans had low expectations of her making it far in the bracket due to her relatively small fanbase, this result was enough to satisfy them (and to quote Anonymous, "everything else is just gravy").

The page was later revealed to have been posting links to the 2019 contest campaigning for Spinel votes, which reignited the dispute on the gem's legitimacy of her title.

Since outside brigading is very much frowned upon in online popularity contests, Basilanon's revelation caused an uproar in the thread, with some users calling for Emmy to be disqualified. In the end, the host Stats anon decided to let the voting run its course. The backlash impacted Emmy's campaign, causing her to be voted out in the following round banished to Peru following a loss to Gwenpool.

In addition to the Facebook brigade, the nandroid has been subject to hateposting and anti-Emmy propaganda from the infamous user known as Fusefag.[1]

The controversy has inspired several fanarts such as a mock Wikipedia-styled infobox depicting the "Battle of Round 1", and caused Emmy to be associated with Peru in Ms. /co/ lore.
