Villains of /v/ is a side tournament that was held on the /tnt/ board on plus4chan. As implied by the board name in its title, this tournament pitted a selection of evil video game characters against each other. The tournament was hosted solo by recurring host Samaritanon !!0q4n9L7G/iU.
The tournament's Elite Eight would include (in order of original debut) Dracula from Castlevania, Dr. Wily from Mega Man, Kefka from Final Fantasy VI, James from Pokémon, Louie from Pikmin, Erika Furudo from Umineko, Celestia Ludenberg from Danganronpa, and Matias Torres from Ace Combat. The final round was between Erika and Torres, where the latter would claim victory in no small part due to a breakout campaign consisting of Vocaroos and art depicting his matches. The consensus of the Elite Eight and its winner at the time of the tournament was well-received overall, although contention among anons was had regarding James' eligibility, with anons citing his origin and heavy prevalence in the Pokémon anime rather than his appearances in the games.
Villains of /v/ was preceded by a counterpart known as Heroes of /v/ that ran throughout June.
Rules
How to nominate
- FOTM Clause: Characters who first appeared at the month before the start of this contest (June 7th and later) are banned.
- Character must appear in a piece of media that is allowed on /v/.
- Post an image of your character with their name and origin. A character must receive 7 replies to qualify.
- One nominee per post only
- Check the nomination list (Ctrl+F, click the "three vertical dots" icon, and enter character name) to see if your character is already nominated
Character / series eligibility
- It is preferable for a character to be from a video game.
- Characters of any gender are eligible.
- Any character making their first debut in the entirety of the previous month is ineligible to compete.
- Previous winners of the mainline /v/ tournaments are ineligible in an effort to keep things fresh.
- Real-life people, OCs and Board-tans are not allowed.

215 successful nominees will be consolidated into a single massive group where voters select the characters that they want to advance. There is no restriction on how many guys they can select. This format is called Approval voting. After the round ends, 128 characters with the most votes will advance into the bracket. Ties are broken by whoever gets properly nominated earlier.
A maximum of 3 characters per series can enter the bracket.
