In spite of her blindness and young age, Toph is one of the most powerful earthbenders in the ''Avatar'' universe, with a tough-as-nails personality to boot. She relies on sensing the vibrations under her feet to perceive the world. Toph's blindness is often the subject of many jokes in the show, especially at the expense of [[Sokka]], the group's resident comic relief.
