Spider-Man (Powerword: Peter Parker) is a superhero starring in numerous comic books and movies published by the American company Marvel Comics. As a result of a radioactive spider bite, the high school student developed powers and abilities similar to that of a friendly neighborhood spider. After Peter's selfishness indirectly resulted in the death of his beloved Uncle Ben, Peter decided to live up to the motto that "With great power there must also come great responsibility," and thus became the hero known as Spider-Man.

As expected of a character who's existed for so long, Spider-Man has continued being one of the most recognizable superheroes of all time, not only on 4chan, but the entire world. But such a title doesn't mean much in unpredictable contests like these.

Tournament History[edit]

To say Spider-Man had a rocky history before his finest hour would be an accurate statement. His beginning year in 2018 would be a rather silent start, with not much other then some banter thrown at him from J. Jonah Jameson and one anon wishing he'd get eliminated Round 1 by Godzilla. But otherwise, it'd wind up being the super's best preforming run for a good couple years. With him and his top 20 seed taking the names of several characters who'd go onto being pretty notable combatants later on. Like future Heroes of /co/ Elite 8 member Harvey Birdman, Consistent mid-card thread Scrooge McDuck and eventual Mr. /co/lympus 2021 champion General Grievous before falling to the unstoppable force & inaugural champion Johnny Bravo.

Mr. /co/lympus 2019 would be slightly worse for Parker. While his influence in the tournament would be expanded tenfold after the critically successful release of Into The Spider-Verse resulted in not only several of the characters featured prominently like Peter Porker or Miles Morales qualifying, but also giving the OG himself a pretty healthy seed at 54th. However, It wouldn't equate to better bracket performance. All the other variants would quickly drown in Round 1 despite the decent vocal support while the actual Spider-Man himself would only be able to score a win against Wirt before succumbing to Iroh's run that year. Ending with what some Anons considered a pretty disappointing run for the syndicate of Spidermen that year. Although some would lighten the mood with jokes about how Uncle Ben's golden boy lost to another loving uncle-type character.

His return in Mr. /co/lympus 2020 would somehow be both a similar story to last year and also something completely different. Business would be as usual until an accursed dubs roll would make Spider-Man drop his focus on his matchup against El Tigre and instead become extremely thirsty for Twig's tight little forest ass, horrifying all the other onlookers in the thread and fueling Jameson's resolve the crush the arachnid menace by any means necessary. Thankfully, he wouldn't need to wait long. As after an entire round dedicated to Anons coming together to show off some of the webslinger's most horrid crimes, He'd lose to the man from time's past: Spear. Even after his loss, Spider-Man would maintain a small amount of thread relevance as he continued to hornypost and roll for digits, but it wouldn't amount to much besides landing him a spot in that year's infamous gay marriage celebration as it's photographer.

His run in Mr. /co/lympus 2021 might as well be called "Tic-Tack-Toe" as it was the 3rd time in a row that Peter would lose in Round 2. A few would make reference to the Twig fiasco after the fox failed to qualify while Spider-Man did, but not much of anything else noteworthy would happen during this year. Mr. Morris would try to mop the pest away and 404 his nice photography thread, but ultimately failed. But then immediately after Dexter of all characters would come swooping in and successfully eliminate Parker from the competition. Once again putting a bow on The Friendly Neighborhood Hero's chances at Mr. /co/lympus a little earlier then the comic enjoyers of /co/ would've liked.

Thankfully, those prayers would be answered upon, as Spider-Man's luck would significantly improve next year during Mr. /co/lympus 2022. Things would, funnily enough, start on a even worse foot then usual. Anons began to doompost about Spider-Man's now apparent Round 2 curse and what problems would arise if Marvel suddenly made him trans one day. While Peter was able to score a decently advantageous win against Bobby Hill, His horizon would only begin to further darken going into Round 2 as an unofficial chart grouping all 128 qualified into teams showcased that every single pick from the team "Comic Crusaders" that weren't Spider-Man got eliminated. Many would begin to grimace and feel pity for both Peter and Capeshit as a whole after seeing them get screwed over so many times and begun preparing for the worst. However, to the surprise of many, the webslinger was able to harness all the defeatist energy in the air and usurp Dan (Dan Vs.)'s win by a mere 8 votes. Hype would only begin to snowball further as Spidey, who at this point was the only huge comic rep still in the running besides Max, would then take another win against Lord Farquaad. Many began congratulating Spider-Man for finally getting a chance to prove himself and potentially even make the Elite 8! But all good things must come to an end, and Parker would meet his after a respectable Round 4 matchup against eventual Finalist Carl Brutananadilewski. With a smile on their face, Spider-Posters left the tournament as they excitedly prepared for next year.

Unfortunately, that year would be Mr. /co/lympus 2023. A year notoriously bad for Comic reps as a whole. One infamous example being Spider-Man's natural foil, boss and previous 2 time Elite 8 member J. Jonah Jameson not being able to even obtain enough votes to qualify. This chain of bad luck would be no different for Peter, as this year would wind being his worst performance yet. With a record-breakingly low 93th seed to his name, Spider-Man would lose to a shitpost-enpowered Mr. Krabs with little fanfare or even acknowledgement from his opponent. While he would go on to have a decent run in the loser's bracket, it was undeniable this was a bad omen & hefty blow to the optimism given by Peter's breakout run back in 2022. Perhaps victory just wasn't meant to be for this web-slinger in spandex.

...or was it?

Enter: Mr. /co/lympus 2024 - Heroes vs Villains.

Spiderman was put on the map almost immediately as his beginning matchup would be against Wakko Warner, who had become a symbol of chaos due to complications resulting in the Warner Brother completely reshuffling the bracket. Next up would be Shaggy. Despite Paul's best falseflagging efforts, The Spider would be able to out-racism Norville Rogers and move onto his next opponent; Kinger. Round 3 would be an odd battle, but the chess piece would forfeit and allow Peter to move forward after exchanging cool insect facts with eachother. All hell would break lose however in his matchup against Daffy Duck, who had just killed a potential Duck Match involving Peter and Jameson and had plenty of loyal fans ready to help him get another shot at the crown. But to the surprise of many threadgoers, Daffy's devilish vocabulary and looney antics were unable to sway enough voters. Spider-Man miraculously did it. After so long, He beat the 1st seed of the tournament and earned a spot in the Elite 8.

After that, it was almost complete smooth sailing. Handily beating the other comic-based finalists Joker and Popeye without much trouble. His last match before his coronation would be another non-cartoon based underdog who went through a similar arc that year, Kermit the Frog. The Muppet fought valiantly, but in the end Spider-Man would take it by one of the greatest finale margins ever seen in 4chan Tournament history. As per the Jenny Rule, Spider-Man is now retired from appearing in any future Mr. /co/lympus outings, but citizens around the world can now rest easy knowing /co/'s pantheon will always have a real hero to keep it safe.
