Heroes of /v/ is a side tournament that was held on the /tnt/ board on plus4chan. As implied by the board name in its title, this tournament pitted a selection of heroic video game characters against each other. The tournament was hosted solo by recurring host Samaritanon !!0q4n9L7G/iU.

The tournament's Elite Eight would include (in order of original debut) Little Mac from Punch-Out!!, Proto Man from Mega Man, "Not Shane" from The Town with No Name, Phoenix Wright from Ace Attorney, Frank West from Dead Rising, Kiyotaka Ishimaru from Danganronpa, Ayin from Lobotomy Corporation, and Klein Gremory from HEARTBEAT. The finals ended up being a Capcom brawl between Phoenix Wright and Frank West, where Wright would take it all with a whopping 79.4% of the vote, one of the biggest curbstomps in any tournament's finals. The consensus of the Elite Eight and its winner at the time of the tournament was overall positive, with anons noting that each competitor had dedicated campaigns that contributed to their placement.

Heroes of /v/ was soon followed by a counterpart known as Villains of /v/ that ran throughout July.

Rules

How to nominate

• FOTM Clause: Characters who first appeared at the month before the start of this contest (May 15th and later) are banned.
• Character must appear in a piece of media that is allowed on /v/.
• Post an image of your character with their name and origin. A character must receive 7 replies to qualify.
• One nominee per post only
• Check the nomination list (Ctrl+F, click the "three vertical dots" icon, and enter character name) to see if your character is already nominated

Character / series eligibility

• It is preferable for a character to be from a video game.
• Characters of any gender are eligible.
• Any character making their first debut in the entirety of the previous month is ineligible to compete.
• Previous winners of the mainline /v/ tournaments are ineligible in an effort to keep things fresh.
• Real-life people, OCs and Board-tans are not allowed.

162 successful nominees will be consolidated into a single massive group where voters select the characters that they want to advance. There is no restriction on how many guys they can select. This format is called Approval voting. After the round ends, 128 characters with the most votes will advance into the bracket. Ties are broken by whoever gets properly nominated earlier.

A maximum of 3 characters per series can enter the bracket.
