Coraline Jones is the titular protagonist of Neil Gaiman's dark fantasy novella Coraline. The novella has been adapted into a 2008 comic, but the series is most famous for the 2009 stop-motion animated feature film directed by Henry Selick (from The Nightmare Before Christmas) and produced by Laika Studios. While her background differs on each adaptation (like being British on the novella and American on the movie), the story remains the same: a bored girl finds a portal to an alternate, identical world where its residents have buttons for eyes, and caters to her every need. But when she learns that the entire thing is a trap for a hungry child-eating predator, she must overcome her fears and use her wits to escape the other world.

Coraline is primarily voted for her appearance in the movie, which is widely praised for its impressive, atmospheric visuals and engaging storyline. She is the leading female stop-motion representative in the Ms. /co/ tournaments with 3 tournament berths since 2019. Coraline's best result happened in the 2020 contest, where she took advantage of several early upsets in her bracket to sneak into the fourth round as a 25th seed, before being eliminated by returning Elite 8 member Starfire. In 2021 she was seeded 16th -- her highest seed yet -- but lost in round 3 to Hilda's mum, who would become that year's eventual finalist.

Her next eligible contest will be in Ms. /co/ 2022.
